Fructose and galactose are simple sugars which means the body can absorb them quicker. As a rule, diabetics should avoid sugars unless they're having an insulin reaction, then they need sugar for the insulin to work on instead of body cells. In that case, because the simple sugars are more readily absorbed, fructose and/ or galactose can be lifesavers. That's why diabetics are advised to drink orange juice if they recognize the onset of a reaction.

I'm not diabetic and I don't know the answer to your question. I did read a book lately that I would like to recommend to you. I loaned it out so I hope I remember the title right. Fasting and eating healthy foods. By Dr. Joel Furhman. I found it at Barnes and Nobles book store. It has some interesting advice for diabetics. He really knows his stuff as a holistic doctor.good luck.
