Not saying that I want to get type 1 diabetes but hypothetically if someone wanted to get type 1 diabetes, how would they go about getting it?

Damage to the pancreas might do it.

Surgery could do it, an auto accident could do it, so can eating some pesticides, herbicides, other chemicals, alloxan. Alloxan is already in the foods you eat like white flour, but in small quantities. Alloxan is normally used to kill beta cells in lab animals to do testing. It is in white flour (primarily) to add the fluffiness and texture to it. Note: you cannot donate your pancreas. You must have it to survive, even if the beta cells are all dead.

It's not possible to induce T1 diabetes. It is autoimunne disease, which means that you can neither predict it's onset time, stop it, induce it, or cure it.
