I took my blood sugar today in class because I am a nursing student and I was learning how to take it... my blood sugar was 7.6 and normal limits are 4 6... I had eaten a short time before but all my friends ate the same thing and their blood sugars were within normal range. I'm just wondering what this means..lol I definately good for answers.. but I was being lazy and just asking on here Nursing students don't know everything.. I am a student for a reason and I need to learn.

I can eat sugar all day and never get hyper, I just get hot and sometimes sick.If I don't eat much throughout the day, I get really hot, then really cold and really sick. Sort of flu like symptoms.Stuff like that.If you could give me some ideas on symptoms and such, I'd be very grateful.

What is a good and relatively healthy way to sweeten diabetic-friendly baked goods?
I am going to trying to bake some vegan, diabetic friendly carob chip cookies for a library event, and am not sure about what sweetener to use. I have heard splenda can work well, but that it is not necessarily safe for consumption. I have also heard that lowering the amount of sugar works, and of course will be doing that, though I do not know how well that will work in my gf recipes. Normally I use maple syrup, honey, and am thinking of trying agave nectar.If you are diabetic or bake food for people who are, your advice would be much appreciated.Miz Lamb, have you ever eaten gluten free baked goods? GF food is often positively disgusting, gritty and full of unfortunately unforgettable flavors. Hence why I also don't want to subject anyone else with diet restrictions to really bad food if I can help it. I was asking here because I was under a time restriction to have a list of ingredients made, and I figured if I couldn't find what I needed on my own, I'd come here. Fail on the snark. Pre-diabetic and lump in throat?
Since Monday I have been having this annoying lump in my throat feeling so last night I went to the E.R. and they did some check ups on me about the lump in my throat and everything came back negative they think that my tonsils could be swollen and they also checked my urine and found sugar in it and they checked my blood and it was okay not high, next Monday I have a doctors appointment to see if am pre diabetic or not because I do have a family history of diabetes so my question is can the lump in my throat be caused by pre diabetes??and I have no symptoms of pre diabetes I feel fine but it's the lump in my throat that's really bothering methey also checked for thyroids and it came back negativeor could it just be my swollen tonsils?Thank you

Blood sugar reading for a 70 year old diabetic?
My father is a 70 old year diabetic. Recently he took a blood test. His fasting blood sugar is 120. His one hour blood sugar is 196. Is this too high? Can some one suggest what can be done to reduce blood sugar? He is a strict vegetarian. What diet should he follow?
Pre-diabetic or borderline diabetic!? ((help))?
Two nights ago I went to the E.R.because I had this weird lump in my throat I did x rays and cat scan and blood test and everything came back negative the doctors think I might have swollen tonsils and they also checked for thyroid and it also came back negative, but what they did check was that I had sugar in my urine my family has a history of diabetes they checked my blood and it was not high my mom thinks I could be pre diabetic or borderline diabetic but I don't have any symptoms of any pre diabetic or borderline diabetes I feel fine and normal, Monday I have a doctors appointment to see if I have diabetes or not and am praying to God I don't have diabetes and am scared my question is Do I really have diabetes? because I don't have any symptoms and I feel fine and does a lump in the throat mean I have diabetes?Thank you
